The police on Monday, to piece together the chain of events leading to the accident that occurred on Saturday, took Haveliwala to the places she visited before the crash.

Additional Commissioner of Police (South region) R. K. Padmanabhan said the police wanted to know what had happened before Haveliwala “lost control” of her SUV causing the death of a police sub-inspector and a 36-year-old businessman.

The police first took Nooria, dressed in a shabby, printed salwar kameez, to her residence at Sagar Sangeet building in Colaba. She spent 10 minutes there but the police did not disclose the details of her visit. Nooria was then driven to her friend’s house at Breach Candy and then to Ghetto, a pub at Mahalaxmi.

She was then taken to Grand Central Bar and Restaurant where she spent a few minutes before returning to L.T. Marg police station.

The exercise took an hour and a half. Nooria looked relaxed and even smiled a few times.

Padmanabhan who later spoke to journalists about the exercise said that Nooria has been changing her statements.

“She first said she had consumed two pegs and then changed it to three. She is now saying that she was being chased by someone and that is why she was speeding,” Padmanabhan said adding

that the Regional Transport Office’s report had found that the car’s brakes and tyres were fine.

The police are also investigating if Nooria had taken drugs, Padmanabhan said.
