The CR has identified 14 trains, connecting major cities in Maharashtra, where additional coaches will accommodate tatkal waiting list passengers. Under this scheme, the railways is planning to add second class chair and second class sleeper coaches to selected trains, except on the Pune – Nagpur Garib Rath, where an AC- tier coach will be added.

“For the next one week, we can assure reservation to a tatkal waiting list passenger. We are doing it on an experimental basis only for some trains within state limits. Now, passengers won’t be forced to purchase tickets from touts,” said Subodh Jain, general manager, CR.

This move has come after CR had received Railway Board directions to give preference to tatkal waiting list passengers if more coaches are added. If the scheme works out well, then it will be implemented on all trains.
