Crime branch seeks Kalani’s custody

An Ulhasnagar court on Monday refused to grant police custody of Omi Kalani, son of ex-MLA Pappu Kalani, to the state CID over a case of alleged assault. However, the Kalyan crime branch has moved the court asking for Kalani’s custody in another case.

Pappu Kalani stood outside the court along with thousands of supporters. Speaking about his son’s arrest he said, “This is a political conspiracy. For the last thirty years, the opposition has used the same tactics against me. In the last two elections, because my son is active and has been receiving support from the youth, they are using the same tactics against my son.”

Omi Kalani has two cases registered against him, one that is being investigated by the state CID and one by the Kalyan crime unit.
