The state government may have no option but to allow dance bars to open, as it might not file a review petition.

Instead, the government may draft a new legislation for dance bars.
The Supreme Court had last week upheld the Bombay high court’s decision to quash the state's ban on dance bars.
A government official told HT that legal experts had cautioned the state against filing of a review petition, saying it would get rejected. “It seems advisable not to file a review petition and knock off section 33(b), which discriminates types of establishments. It has been recommended that a stringent legislation be brought in,” the official said.
Home minister RR Patil is likely to hold a meeting on Monday where the legal opinion will be conveyed to him.
