With no end to errors in the newly presented designation survey for the 2014-2034 development plan (DP), activists want the deadline for submission of suggestions and observations, which ends today, to be extended at least by a month, so they could study the draft in detail.

The goof-ups in the designation survey, uploaded on the civic body’s website, range from playgrounds being marked as recreation grounds and missing iconic structures, to various reservation-related issues pertaining to Aarey Colony, among others. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has put up documents running into at least 60 pages for each ward. Scrutinising the actual use and designation mentioned in the survey is a time-consuming process, say activists.

The earlier draft, published in February, had similar errors and had to be sent to the drawing board, as it received more than 55,000 suggestions/objections in two months. Activists claim they also need to check if the suggestions/objections given previously have been considered. Vidya Vaidya, H-West federation secretary, said, “Our federation members had sent hundreds of suggestions/objections. We need to check whether those have been considered or not, which needs time. A month is not enough to study the plan.”

In the past, the BMC had extended the deadline to receive suggestions on the detailed project report on the coastal road.
