The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) got its first Sikh mayor when NCP’s Mohansing Rajpal defeated Shiv Sena’s Deepak Gawde. Rajpal’s win ended the two-and-a-half-year old ‘Pune pattern’, in which the NCP, Bharatiya Janata Party and Sena had joined hands to rule the PMC.

The NCP’s Yogesh Behl was elected mayor in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

In Kolhapur, the Congress, NCP and Jansurajya Shakti joined hands as the Tararani Aghadi to elect their candidate, Sagar Chavan. His opponent--an independent Nilesh Desai--managed to get just two votes.

NCP’s Kishor Shelke was elected Amravati mayor by defeating BJP’s Vinay Nagarkar in Amravati civic body.
