“Hard decisions are difficult to make, but then, if you have strong willpower, you can meet any challenge,” Prithviraj told his first media conference at Mantralaya on Thursday evening.

When asked if Congress leaders named in the Adarsh scam would find a place in his council of ministers, a cautious Chavan said the Congress high command would decide on that. “But a clean image will definitely be the benchmark for new ministers.”

Chavan evaded a question on whether he planned to take action against bureaucrats involved in the housing scam. “A high-level inquiry is on in the issue. Let the probe report come.”

Several retired and serving bureaucrats and a police officer are accused of usurping flats in Adarsh society in return for clearances. Some ministers in the Ashok Chavan cabinet and previous CMs have also been blamed.
