The anti-extortion cell of the Thane crime branch questioned gangster Ravi Pujari’s sisters, as part of their investigation into the string threat calls allegedly made by Pujari to builders, businessmen and politicians.

The police were able to trace Pujari’s two sisters, Naina Baburaj Pujari and Jayalaxmi Ghansham Salian to New Delhi, after interrogating five aides who were arrested last week.

They then summoned the women to try and find out Pujari’s current location.

“Jayalaxmi said her brother attended her wedding in Delhi in 1993, and came back against when her first child was born the following year. She said Pujari went missing in 1995, after which they have never been in touch. Naina said she got married in 1996, but her brother did not attend the wedding,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.

The police have been trying to trace the gangster after several cases extortion calls, allegedly made by Pujari were reported.
