Actor Rajinikanth would have taken not more than one strike to break 108 coconuts. But his Mumbai fans from Dharavi and Matunga will spend four hours performing a puja and breaking 108 coconuts at the Siddhivinayak Temple on Saturday to pray for the actor.

The 61-year-old actor was admitted to a Chennai hospital on May 13 after he complained of a respiratory problem. His health suffered a setback shortly after production of his latest film ‘Rana’ hit the floors in the last week of April.
Even as the actor’s family maintains that he “is on the road to recovery”, his fans continue to go on a special puja-performing spree across the city.
“It has been more a fortnight since ‘Thalaivar’ (God) has been in and out of the hospital and the entire country is in a state of despair,” said Selvakumar Nadar, president, Maharashtra State Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Association based in Dharavi.
“More than 500 fans assembled at a temple in Matunga on Thursday, where we performed a special ‘yagna’ to Lord Ganesha, for two hours, praying for our sir and his quick recovery,” he said.
“We are planning to screen his hits Baashah, Sivaji and Enthiran at Aurora Cinema in Matunga,” said Ponraj Raju, secretary of the association.
