Fifth edition of Bandra fest to celebrate diversity

With 'Diversity' as its theme, the fifth Celebrate Bandra Festival will host a range of entertainment options including Sufi rock, Urdu poetry, ghazals, folk dance and hip hop dance, starting November 12.

“The festival will be bigger in terms of its scale and variety, promising all the Bandra people a good time,” said Patricia Nath, co- convenor, Celebrate Bandra Festival.

The fortnight-long festival is celebrated once in two years. Touted as a festival of performing and visual arts, the festival has a variety of planned events, including a night of Marathi folk songs, a folk dance performance and a ghazal night. While the music and dance events will be organised along Bandra Reclamation, Bandstand and Carter Road promenades, the theatre acts will be presented in the Hindustan Lever Park on St Paul Road. “The promenades are away from the chaos of the city. The ambience of the sea will only make the evening more memorable,” added Nath.

The theme for the Fourth Celebrate Bandra Festival, organised in 2009 was 'Go Green'. The nature heritage walk and the plastic-free Bandra campaign received a good response.
