Fight among goats hassles cops

The Yellow gate police had to, on Tuesday, get X-rays of the 30 goats found on the MSV Yusufi dhow again, as the goats segregated for presence of suspicious objects in their body, got mixed owing to a fight among the animals. Saurabh M Joshi reports.

The Yellow gate police had to, on Tuesday, get X-rays of the 30 goats found on the MSV Yusufi dhow again, as the goats segregated for presence of suspicious objects in their body, got mixed owing to a fight among the animals.

The X-ray reports of four of the 30 animals had shown suspicious black patches in their stomach. Suspecting the presence of foreign objects in their body, the police had put up labels on these goats and were to operate on them at the Parel veterinary hospital this week. But, they had a fight among themselves because of which the labels fell.

"When we went to take the four goats to the hospital, we found that the labels had gone. So, we had to get the X-rays done again on Tuesday. After identifying the four goats, they will be sent to the veterinary hospital. We have asked the dean to look into the matter," said a police officer.

The police have now decided to mark the four goats using paint, after they get the reports.
