State Home Minister R.R. Patil on Friday said the police department has found a file pertaining to purchase of substandard bullet-proof jackets, one of which allegedly claimed the life of senior police officer Hemant Karkare in the 26/11 terrorist attacks.

The file was missing for more than a year.
Slain Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Karkare’s wife had demanded information about it through the Right To Information Act.
The matter is in the court now.
Patil told media that the commissioner of police would provide details about the documents. But the information was not made until late Friday night.
“This matter is sub-judice and I will not like to comment elaborately,” said Patil. “We have found the relevant part of the file and I can assure you that purchases were made within the norms, which we will be filing in our affidavit to the court.
There are interested parties who are floating these theories from time to time,” Patil added.
