‘Ghatkopar hotel murder accused gave wrong details’

The Pant Nagar police now suspect that the name, Parmeshwar Gupta, given by the accused at the Udipi Shrikrishna Hotel may also be incorrect.

According to the police, last Thursday, the accused had demanded that manager Anand Pujari, 30, pay him his salary of Rs5,000 in advance. When Pujari refused, the accused allegedly slit his throat.

An officer investigating the case told HT: “A police team headed to ‘Anilpura’ village in Uttar Pradesh, but there is no such village in UP.” The police found that Gupta had given different names at the three restaurants — two at Andheri and one at Mulund — where he was earlier employed.

The police found six SIM cards from Gupta’s rented room. “All of them had different addresses that led us to people who were clueless about the SIM card issued in their name,” said the officer.
