A girl, who celebrated her 12th birthday on Thursday, was killed in an accident on Palm Beach Road when the Innova turned turtle after hitting a Skoda.
Shruti Mhatre, her mother Smita, elder brother Tanmay and driver Sunil Shinde were returning to their Kharghar home.

Shoaib Shaikh (30) was driving the Skoda ahead of the Innova, when he suddenly applied brakes and the Innova hit his car. “The impact was such that the Innova turned turtle and Shruti fell out and sustained injuries.” She succumbed to her injuries, the police said.
