Govt orders probe into Antilia land

A probe has been ordered by the state government into allegations that Antilia, on Altamount Road, owned by Mukesh Ambani, had encroached on 309.31 sq mt of land and that the owner had got the land regularised with the help of civic officials.

Minister of state for urban development Bhaskar Jadhav said, on Tuesday, that a bureaucrat of the rank of secretary would conduct the inquiry.

A Reliance spokesperson refused to comment on the issue.

MLA Shishir Shinde (MNS) has alleged that top civic officials are involved in the case. Opposition leader Eknath Khadse has demanded action against erring BMC officials. The matter concerns 309.31 sq mt of land that Antilia’s owners had handed over to BMC in lieu of extra floor space index (FSI). The owners are accused of encroaching on this surrendered area.

The local ‘D’ ward office had, in December 2010, sent a notice to Antilia asking the owners to ‘either show permission for beautification of the land or demolish it’. Antilia then sought BMC’s permission to beautify the land and create a public parking lot.
