They had raised the issue of shortage of staff, equipment and unclean premises in a calling attention motion demanding upgrade of the hospital.

Minister of state for urban development, Bhaskar Jadhav, assured the state assembly that the government would issue necessary directives to the civic body to upgrade facilities and amenities at Shatapdi hospital.

Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil intervened in the calling attention motion and asked Jadhav to undertake a survey of all civic-run hospitals in the state to find out how many were functioning properly and what were the shortcomings.

Walse-Patil said the details of the survey should be submitted to the state assembly within a week.

“A state team will visit the hospital to see how it is functioning and what kind of upgrade is necessary. Following this, directives will be issued to the civic body,” said Jadhav, adding that the survey called for by the speaker would also be undertaken.
