I am still for Congress-NCP merger, says Digvijay Singh

"My stand on merger was before the decision was taken to continue the alliance with NCP for the assembly polls. We have the same DNA and genes. There is not much of a difference. It was my personal view and I still hold it," Singh told reporters in the presence of NCP leader Govindrao Adik at Gandhi Bhavan, the state Congress office in south Mumbai.

Earlier, Adik who was the state unit Congress chief before joining the NCP on the eve of Lok Sabha elections this year, said he was overwhelmed to come to the premises (Congress office).

"I hope I would get more such opportunities," he said.

When asked about the official view of the Congress on the merger, Singh said, "Congress has continued its alliance with the NCP and is working in co-ordination to get a decisive mandate to provide a stable government."

He said the ideology of both the parties is same. "We believe in inclusive and not divisive politics," he said.

Replying to questions, Singh denied the charge of dynastic politics in giving tickets to the family members of top state leaders. "The test is before the people. The voters will decide their fate," he said.
