Chief Secretary J.P. Dange said on Monday that Gajbhiye wanted to withdraw his resignation. “He wrote me a letter saying he took the decision (to quit the IAS) in haste. He said he wanted the state not to accept his papers because he wished to continue,” Dange said.

Gajbhiye (IAS batch 1987) was unavailable for comment. But a senior officer close to him said Gajbhiye was not happy with the way politicians treated him. “He came to Mantralaya from the civic corporation where he served as additional commissioner. But the new job did not give him satisfaction,” the officer added.
