IGCSE schools seek UK board’s help

The IGCSE exams are conducted by the UK-based Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

IGCSE students, who give their Class 10 exams, get their results in the end of August, while state board (SSC) results are out in June. Admissions begin soon after the SSC results and till last year, IGCSE students were granted admission on the basis of their provisional grades.

In June, IGCSE students who appeared for the Class 10 exams were unable to apply to junior colleges on the basis of their provisional grades. They were told they could only apply later depending on the vacancies available.

Representatives from 25 schools met Val Sismey, recognition manager, University of Cambridge International Examinations, over the issues.

“We have requested the CIE officials to meet local education officials,” said Sudeshna Chatterjee, principal of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu.
