Inquiry ordered into conduct of railway CP's office for dereliction

The Bombay high court has ordered an inquiry into the conduct of the railway police commissioner's office for repeatedly refusing to accept complaints submitted by a Bhiwandi resident.

A division bench of justices Abhay Oka and Sadhana Jadhav on Tuesday also directed the director general of police (DGP) to nominate a senior police officer to inquire into the complaints filed by Murari Tripathi against police sub inspector AK Valvi attached to the Dombivli government railway police station. The bench has directed the DGP to submit the report by December 19.

The Bhiwandi resident had approached high court after his complaints of inaction on part of PSI Valvi were turned down the railway CP's office. Tripathi alleged that the CP's office refused to even accept complaints forwarded by registered post.

"Prima facie, it appears that the action of refusing letters by the office of the commissioner of police is shocking, to say the least," the bench said on the conduct of the personnel attached to the CP's office. "This aspect will have to be seriously looked into," it added.
