City Congress unit Chief, Kripashankar Singh's rival, Gurudas Kamat who is also the Minister of State for Communication, has alleged that the internal polls were rigged and hence they should be conducted again in a fair manner.

“Thousands of workers feel there is an attempt to rig the party elections by a coterie,” Kamat alleged in a letter sent to party president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

“Genuine elections will give an opportunity to all members to participate in the elections and ensure genuinely elected bodies, to prepare for future elections in the state.”

Singh did not respond to repeated calls and text messages by Hindustan Times. Singh had taken over from Kamat as MRCC chief more than two years ago. The two leaders don’t see eye to eye.

Kamat alleged said that Singh appointed his own men as returning officers who allegedly ensured Singh and his followers emerge victorious at many places. The polling centres were not specified and the poll process not defined, he claimed.
