The Malwani police, on Sunday, arrested a 17-year-old school dropout from Hyderabad in connection with the murder of a 29-year-old bar girl who was found dead at her residence on January 11.
The police said the accused was in a relationship with the victim, Parveen Banu Shaikh and would get angry when she interacted with other men.
According to the Malwani police, Shaikh was a stage dancer and earlier worked at various bars. She was a divorcee and lived alone in a rented room at Agra gully in Malwani’s Gate 6 area.
The accused, who is a minor, met Shaikh around six months ago during one of her work visits to Hyderabad. The duo got into a relationship and the accused would visit Shaikh at her residence.
The two would often have arguments over Shaikh’s interaction with other men.
He had told her on several occasions to cut all contact with other men as he was serious about their relationship, the police said.
“On January 9, the accused visited her at her residence for dinner. Shaikh then got a call on her mobile phone. On finding out that she was speaking to another man, the accused got into an argument with her and strangled her with a dupatta in a fit of rage. When she collapsed, he panicked, locked the door of the room from outside and fled,” said Jaiwant Hargude, divisional assistant commissioner of police.

{{/usCountry}}He added that the post-mortem report has confirmed that she died because of strangulation.
The police inquired with the locals and Shaikh’s two sisters in the city and confirmed that she was in a relationship with the accused. The accused was then traced to Hyderabad through his mobile phone tower location and brought to the city on Monday. He has been booked for murder, the police said.
Shaikh was found dead at her Malwani residence on January 11 when her sister’s mother-in-law went to check on her as her sister had been unable to contact her.
Her sister’s mother-in-law found a foul odour emanating from the house, following which the door was broken down and Shaikh’spartly decomposed body discovered.
