‘Kalyan man should not meet my son Anees in jail’

The sessions court was hearing the bail plea of Ansari, the 24-year-old techie who has been arrested by the anti-terrorism squad for his alleged involvement in a plot to blow off the American school in BKC. “A few hours are left before my night shift starts, but these days I can’t sleep,” said Shakeel Ahmed.

“I heard Areeb Majeed was recently sent to judicial custody. I just hope that Anees and Majeed do not meet each other. Apart from Majeed having gone to Iraq, both have quite a few things in common. They were radicalised through online portals, and both are young and hot-blooded,” said Ahmed.

On Wednesday, Majeed was sent to judicial custody till December 30, as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) told the court that further interrogation was not needed. “I just don’t want jail to be the place where they meet and get into such discussions again,” said Ahmed.

He said, “When an accused comes out of jail, there are two possible results, either he comes out as a better person, or he gets closer to the world of crime. I want my son to completely get out of ISIS indoctrination.”

Ansari’s case has been adjourned till Monday.
