Karnivool to rock IIT-Bombay grounds

Rock lovers from across India will be head-banging in unison on Sunday night as Karnivool, an Australian progressive rock band, performs at Mood Indigo, the annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay (IIT-B).

Rock lovers from across India will be head-banging in unison on Sunday night as Karnivool, an Australian progressive rock band, performs at Mood Indigo, the annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay (IIT-B).

"We honestly can't wait to perform in India," said Ian Kenny, lead vocalist of the band. "We love the rich history and the culture of India. The food is delicious too," added Kenny.

"Several rock bands in India derive their musical influence from Karnivool. Given the huge fan following that they have in the country and the fact that they have never performed in India before, we're expecting crowds from all over," said Kaustub Pandey, core-group member of Mood-I, which has in the past two years hosted bands such as Porcupine Tree and Katatonia.

Karnivool, which counts Meshuggah and Radiohead among its inspirations, is currently working on its third studio album. Fans expecting to hear Karnivool's new compositions will be disappointed. "We are new to this territory and it will be better we play out the hits first. I don't think we'll be playing any new material," said Goddard.
