The parents had filed a FIR against the school on Friday after Mumba Devi Viday Mandir in Khar punished students for more than four days.

On Saturday, the school management had refused to meet the parents in the absence of an independent third party. They later relented and agreed to meet the parents.

“It was a cordial meeting where we pointed out that the school had not informed parents about the hike in advance, so it was unfair to hike the fee in the middle of the year,” Jayant Jain, president of the Forum for Fairness in Education, said. “They agreed to consult the Parent-Teacher Association about any further fee increase.”

“We are happy that the issue has been resolved,” said Susham Shewale, parent of a Class IX student.
