Four days on, the Konkan Railway was back on track after authorities restored the Pomendi cutting section on Thursday.
This section, which falls between Ratnagiri and Nivsar stations, was affected because of a mudslide that accumulated on the tracks.
The problem began on July 17 at around 9.05pm and could be restored only at 3pm on Thursday.
The first train to pass the stretch was Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Mangala Express, which left Nivsar at 5.29pm and passed the affected site around 5.52pm.
Konkan Railway had hired around 402 buses to transship 20,512 stranded passengers between Ratnagiri - Nivsar and Kudal - Kankavali during these four days.
