Laila Khan case: Crime branch gets Tak's custody from J&K

The Mumbai police will finally be able to interrogate Pervez Tak in connection with the mysterious disappearance of actor Laila Khan and her family, after a Jammu and Kashmir court granted it Tak's custody for four days.

Deputy commissioner of police Ambadas Pote confirmed that a crime branch team has been granted Tak's transit remand. After Tak is brought to the city, he will be produced before the local court for further custody, added Pote. The team is expected to reach the city by Sunday morning.

This development is important considering that Tak has been continually changing his statement before the J&K police. In one of them, he had claimed that Khan and her family members had been killed and buried some distance from Mumbai.

An officer from the Mumbai crime branch said, "He has been changing his statement to throw the police off track. We do not trust any of the theories put forward by him, including the one wherein he stated that Khan and her family had been murdered. We are confident of getting the true version of events after we get to interrogate him."

The J&K police had recently arrested Sheikh from Bangalore.
