The police, on Friday, received a call from a taxi driver, who said he had seen a person resembling Walid Jinah, one of the terrorists, whose picture the police had released on Thursday.

"The caller identified himself as a taxi driver," deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Operations, Rajkumar Vhatkar told HT. He called on the dedicated hotline and told the police that the man resembling Jinah had hired his cab from south Mumbai to got to Pune on December 12, Vhatkar said.

"Our teams have already been dispatched," said Vhatkar, adding that though the police know exact locations from where the passenger hailed the cab and his drop point, the details won't be revealed.

The taxi driver's call was the only actionable lead that the police received on Friday among the 15-odd other calls they received in 24 hours after releasing the picture of the alleged Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) operative. Police reiterated that they welcomed information from citizens, no matter how obscure it might be.
