Maharashtra Sadan scam: Chhagan Bhujbal’s nephew quizzed

The Maharashtra ACB questioned Sameer Bhujbal, nephew of NCP leader and former PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, on Friday in connection with the alleged Maharashtra Sadan redevelopment scam.

The Maharashtra anti-corruption bureau (ACB) questioned Sameer Bhujbal, nephew of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, on Friday in connection with the alleged Maharashtra Sadan redevelopment scam.

Sameer, who has been asked to be present for further questioning on Monday, was with the probe team for close to three hours.

“Preliminary investigations have begun and the questioning of people involved will continue,” said Praveen Dixit, director general of police, ACB.

ACB sources said they will also record the statement of Chhagan Bhujbal and his son Pankaj, MLA from Nandgaon, based on the details that emerge during the probe. Pankaj is likely to be quizzed on Saturday.

“We have a questionnaire with more than 150 queries pertaining to the allegations made in the PIL. This [Sameer’s questioning] is the first leg of investigation. We will continue to record statements of other people,” said a senior ACB officer.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, an MP from Mumbai, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Anjali Damania had filed PILs in the Bombay high court over the alleged scam.
