Malad double murder: police unable to identify accused

The police investigation into the Malad double murder case of April 11 has met with a hurdle owing to difficulty in recognition of the accused. The police said that circumstantial shortcomings had hampered the investigation process despite efforts by the police to locate the accused.

The police investigation into the Malad double murder case of April 11 has met with a hurdle owing to difficulty in recognition of the accused. The police said that circumstantial shortcomings had hampered the investigation process despite efforts by the police to locate the accused.

“We have scanned CCTV footage at railway stations, at Natraj market where the duo had delivered jewellery before they were murdered at the Malad footover bridge and have also prepared sketches of two of the four accused. However, the major issue is that since the accused were masked, it is difficult to identify them. Besides, there are no CCTV installations on the bridge where the crime occurred,” said an official from the Malad police station requesting anonymity.

After the case was handed over to the crime branch, they have formed several teams to nab the accused. “Despite consistent efforts, there is no major breakthrough in the case as of now and we are looking for more clues,” said a crime branch official.
