Man arrested for damaging BEST bus, assaulting driver

A BEST bus was damaged and its driver assaulted in a road rage incident on Thursday. The Bangur Nagar police later arrested the driver of a Malad-based BPO, Vinay Kumar (25), for allegedly damaging the windshield of a BEST bus and thrashing the driver.

The Bangur Nagar police later arrested the driver of a Malad-based BPO, Vinay Kumar (25), for allegedly damaging the windshield of a BEST bus and thrashing the driver.

When Subash Bobde was driving BEST bus number 256 towards Juhu he rammed the vehicle into an Innova, damaging it, while taking a turn towards Link Road near Meeth Chowkie in Malad (W).

When Bobde stopped at the next bus stop, an angry Kumar blocked the vehicle's path with his Innova.

"The Innova driver started hurling abuses at the BEST bus driver. He then got a spanner from his car and broke the right side of the front windshield," said an official of the Bangur Nagar police station, requesting anonymity .

When Kumar returned to his car, an angry Bobde stood in front of the car.

Kumar started car though he saw Bobde standing in front, said police.

"When the car started, Bobde landed on the bonnet. But Kumar continued driving. After a few yards, Bobde jumped off the vehicle," said Senior Inspector M. Telang.

Kumar drove to a nearby superstore, parked the car and hid in a call centre.

When the police reached the spot, after a passerby informed them, Bobde narrated the incident. The police searched the area and found the parked car and subsequently Kumar too.
