Senior inspector NK More of the BKC cyber police station confirmed the arrest of Shivam Pandey, a resident of CBD Belapur under the Information Technology (IT) Act on July 2.

“Even if one is aware of someone’s password, it is against the law to access it without that person’s permission,” said an officer.

Pandey and his wife were married in June last year. When they began having marital problems, Pandey’s wife moved to her sister’s residence in Kurla early this year, said the police.

Pandey’s wife told his relative that he harassed her. She also told the relative that she had certain emails from Pandey, which would prove the alleged harassment, said an officer. However, within a few days, all such mails were deleted from her account. Suspecting her husband for the breach of privacy, she made an application to the cyber police.
