Man convicted for trying to kill father

The sessions court on Thursday sentenced a 47-year-old man to three years in jail for trying to kill his 79-year-old father in 2008.

The sessions court on Thursday sentenced a 47-year-old man to three years in jail for trying to kill his 79-year-old father in 2008.

Neil Credo had attacked his father, Nobert, with a sickle on his neck and chest on March 19, 2008, the Juhu police said.

Nobert had been taken to nearby RN Cooper Hospital. He had later referred to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle west because his condition was very critical.

The Juhu police said when Neil’s brother, Sailesh, had tried to stop him, Neil attacked him too. But Sailesh managed escaped with minor injuries.

Neil was arrested and booked for attempt to murder and has been in police custody since his arrest.

During the trial, the prosecution produced several witnesses, including Nobert and Sailesh, to prove the case against Neil.

Neil’s lawyer argued that he was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia for last 29 years. However, the sessions court convicted Neil.
