Mandals across the city have approached various authorities with a list of precautions they will exercise while using the city’s potholed roads.

Naresh Dahibawkar, president of the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti, said that mandals are in touch with civic and traffic authorities. “We are worried potholes might be a major problem during processions. We have told mandals that if need be, they can use the wrong side of the road, or take processions through lanes marked with a No entry,” he said.

Tukaram Raut, president of the 4th Kumbharwada Sarvajanik Ganpati Mandal said that volunteers of various mandals have been told to carry out daily inspection of routes.

“We have told volunteers to survey routes every single day to see if new potholes have emerged. If there are any, they should be immediately reported to the local civic ward office,” he said.
