Mhada weeds out 11,179 flat applications before lottery

Mhada has cancelled multiple applications from the same applicants and those who applied under the same bank account numbers and permanent account numbers (PAN).

This is the first time that Mhada has cancelled such a huge number of applications. Prospective buyers can see the final list of accepted applications on the Mhada website.

This year, more than 1, 50,000 people applied for the 2,593 Mhada flats for the lower income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG) and higher income group (HIG).

The majority of flats are allotted to the low-income group category. This time, the highest number of applications are for flats in the middle-income group.

A total of 6,385 applications had the same names but were filed under different categories. Likewise, applications with the same bank account numbers and PAN but with different names were also not considered for the draw.

Mhada has resolved to conduct the lottery on Thursday even though opposition parties have called for a nation-wide bandh on May 31.
