MNS releases first list of 208 candidates with exam marks

For the BMC polls, the MNS has announced 208 of 227 candidates. The rest will be announced on Monday.

Of the seven sitting corporators, only Vanita Ghag from Malad (East)has been given a ticket for the 2012 polls. Sena corporator Kshitija Pujare, who defected to the MNS, is being fielded from Kandivli.

The list also contains names of party leaders’ relatives, such as Prakash Darekar — brother of legislator Pravin Darekar— and Smita Naik, MNS leader Sanjay Naik’s wife.

Some sitting corporators have been replaced by their spouses. For instance, Deepak Pawar will be fielded in the ward currently represented by his wife, Supriya, while Dilip Lande is being nominated in place of his wife Shailja, in Kurla. Mangal Kadam is replacing her husband Parmeshwar in a Ghatkopar ward reserved for women in the upcoming polls.

Ulhasnagar: mns picks 35 candidates

Ulhasnagar: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Sunday released a list of 35 candidates for the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation elections.
MNS leader Manoj Chavan said: “Today, we have released the first list of 35 candidates. In the coming days, the party may file nominations of one or two more candidates.”
