A 28-year-old Shiv Sena worker was hacked to death by a group of five local goons near his house in Sangamnagar, Antop Hill, early Monday morning because he did not pay heed to their extortion threats.

Police said the group had been regularly demanding money from him.
The incident took place around 4am when Soni stepped out to fill water from the common tap.
“Around five people approached him and attacked him with swords and sharp weapons. Raju’s brother Fulchand, 38, came forward to help him, but he was also threatened by the assailants,” said Suresh Bhavar, senior police inspector of Wadala Truck Terminal police station.
Soni sustained 12 to 15 stab wounds and was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Police said Soni and Fulchand had been running a video-game parlour in the area. “The accused asked the two brothers for money and interfered in their business. They had threatened to kill Soni two days ago,” said Bhavar.
The accused have been identified as Niyaz Hussain, Firoj Idrisi, Naseem Khan, Ibbu and Hafizul Bangali. Police arrested Ibbu and Hussain.
