The city airport is ranked third in the world among airports handling between 25 million to 40 million passengers a year.
The Mumbai airport retained its last year’s rank in the 275-airport study conducted by Airports Council International (ACI), one of the most credible surveys on airport service standards.
While Seoul’s Incheon airport was ranked number one, Delhi airport was second in the 25-40 million passengers category. Mumbai airport beat Tokyo’s Narita airport and Shanghai’s Hongqiao airport that were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
“We have always worked towards the goal of quality service and strived to cultivate a customer-oriented service culture at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA)," said Sanjay Reddy, managing director, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).
The ACI annual survey, which was released on Tuesday, is considered credible owing to its methodology, which involves collection extensive passenger feedback over various facilities.
“Data is collected real-time as the airport experience is fresh in a passenger’s mind,” said an airport official. At least 1,400 passengers are randomly selected from airports for the survey.
