There is some good news for Mumbai. The Parsi Lying-in Hospital in Fort, which has been non-operational for two decades, will soon be opened to the public again as a super-speciality hospital.

The Bombay high court (HC) recently paved the way for the hospital’s reopening by ending a dispute between trustees of the Bombay Parsi Panchayat (BPP) over the redevelopment of the century-old building.
For the past three years, the BPP and the Parsi Lying-In Hospital Trust (PLHT) had been locked in a legal tussle, after the latter decided to enter into a lease agreement with a private contractor to redevelop the hospital. The Punchayat, which owns the hospital, said the PLHT does not have the right to do so.
Recently, both the parties settled the matter and decided to go ahead with the private contractor. However, two of the seven members of the Punchayat opposed the deal, claiming they could have gotten better offers for the redevelopment work. They then approached the high court.
The division bench of justice Bhushan Gavai and justice Ajay Gadkari rejected the petition, after they found that the two trustees did not have a single concrete offer with them.
