Mumbai: Ex-mayor Shubha Raul, who joined MNS, back in Sena

Raul, who met the Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday, called this step a 'homecoming' and referred to her defection to MNS as a step that was 'the need of the hour'.

In a homecoming of sorts, former Mumbai mayor and three-time Shiv Sena corporator Shubha Raul, who had joined the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) during the assembly elections, joined the Sena again on Wednesday.

Raul, who met the Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday, called this step a 'homecoming' and referred to her defection to MNS as a step that was 'the need of the hour'.

Raul had contested the legislative assembly elections from the Dahisar constituency on a MNS ticket in protest after she was denied one from the Sena. The Sena gave the ticket to former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar who lost the polls to BJP's Manisha Chaudhary. Ghosalkar was allegedly facing charges of mentally harassing a woman corporator and ignoring women's issues.

"I will not call this joining the Sena, but a homecoming. Uddhavji called me to come back home and I honoured his word. The fight during the assembly elections was against a person and not against the party, and my leadership knew this. Now that he has lost the elections, I am happy to get back," Raul said.
