In its eighth year, the Mumbai marathon has become a necessity for many Mumbaiites and this is a good thing. It’s high time youngsters switched off their computers and started exercising.

In its eighth year, the Mumbai marathon has become a necessity for many Mumbaiites and this is a good thing. It’s high time youngsters switched off their computers and started exercising.
People from all walks of life join the marathon to test their physical abilities, while extending their might for a charitable cause. We should have more such events to shed our lethargy.

Marathon spreads public awareness
It is matter of pride to see the marathon participants run for a cause that he believes in. Most importantly, it is a great channel to spread public awareness.
This event offers a platform for every Mumbaiite to adopt a healthy regime, and what better way to begin than at the marathon where the crowd is cheering you on.
Some runners also convey a message by supporting a cause, such as helping street children, malnutrition and education. Even handicapped people cannot resist the enthusiasm, and roll their wheels to participate in the special event. If running a marathon is a fad, it is a worthy fad for
uplifting the society.

The Mumbai marathon, every year, reaffirms the spirit of the city. A citizen’s voice is the most powerful weapon and this event provides a platform to feel united for all the causes that deserve to be noticed.
We cannot undermine the genuine efforts of the people who leave everything behind and join hands for a peaceful, healthy run.

Marathon is a part of the world’s biggest sporting event, which is clubbed with the opportunity to do charity. For all those who didn’t take part this year, it is time to start gearing up for next year. Pledge to charity, pledge to run the marathon.

Marathon really a fashion statement
Time and again, Indians have been lured into things that are essentially a fashion statement; from burning candles to enrolling in the city marathon. What for? If we want to help the unprivileged ones, all we need to do is help in the real way. Food packets, blankets, and monetary help wherever necessary could be done without telling anyone.
But no one wants to do that till the media follows them sprinting in branded shoes and new clothes.
