Mumbai: WR seeks commuters’ opinion on signage

At present, the WR on its fast train corridor displays information about stations where the train will not halt, whereas CR provides the information on stations where the train halts. The attempt is to also bringing uniformity in suburban services that see 70 lakh commuters daily.

“It has been observed that passengers prefer to know the stations where the trains will halt. So we are considering changing the signage, but before that would like to seek public opinion,” said Shailendra Kumar, divisional railway manager (DRM), Mumbai division.

The WR will install around 400 indicators at 19 suburban stations by replacing the faulty ones. This includes all indicators on stations between Borivli and Dahanu, Malad, Bombay Central, Churchgate and Andheri.

The project worth Rs 10 crore is likely to start by December and may go on till next August.

“Commuters will be soon intimated about the other ways to participate in survey; it could be either by sending an email to WR or through social networking sites,” said Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relation officer (CPRO), WR.
