Disgruntled with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Jamat-e-Islami, Hind (Maharashtra) — a socio-religious Muslim organisation — has decided to withdraw support to the alliance for Assembly elections.

Nazar Mohammed Madu, president of the organisation, said: “The Congress-NCP government has failed to stop communal violence in the state, the latest being the Miraj riots.”
Madu rapped the government for failing to implement the Srikrishna report. “They (the government) played a hypocritical role in the Hari Masjid firing and the Malegaon blast case.”
Madu said he was disappointed that the Congress-NCP had allotted only 16 seats to Muslims as against the demand for 38.
He said supporting the Third Front was not an alternative because the Third Front in Maharashtra is very weak.
