Ramesh Pindam has claimed harassment by a builder who redeveloped his building and inaction by civic officials who he alleges are hand-in-glove with the developer. Civic chief Bhaskar Wankhede ordered an inquiry into the allegations by Ramesh Pindam, a resident of Kopar Khairane.

The incident occurred at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters at CBD Belapur. Pindam, who was accompanied by his wife and two young sons went to the area outside the commissioner’s office and started pouring kerosene on himself and his family. Seeing him, Sinnarkar rushed towards him and snatched the kerosene can.

Pindam said, “I had no option as we have nowhere to go.” Pindam was arrested by the police and released on bail.
