Navi Mumbai schools organise silent protest

Teachers, students and parents of DAV School in Nerul, along with those of other schools in the area, organised a silent rally on Friday to protest against the blackening of the face of their principal by MNS party workers on December 14.

The massive peace rally that began around 9 am from the school in the Seawoods area made its way to SIES College in Sector 9 of Nerul and back, a distance of almost 8 km. Despite the long march, the students were determined to convey a strong message that they vehemently opposed the MNS action. DAV schoolteacher Kanchan Misra said, “The rally is to protest the intervention of the political parties in school administration.”

Prashant Patil, a student in the rally, said, “The people who attacked the principal do not know the value of a teacher, who is a guru.”

Several schools in the city remained closed on the day. Some that had not received information of the closure couldn’t intimate the s tudents and hence functioned normally.
