NCP seeks Vinod Tawde’s resignation

The party demands state education minister’s resignation over the controversy over the SC’s order making NEET mandatory

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday slammed education minister Vinod Tawde, demanding his resignation over the controversy over the Supreme Court’s order, making National Eligiblity Entrance Test (NEET) mandatory.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik alleged that Tawde’s failure as the education minister was responsible for putting future of 4.5 lakh students in the dark. Malik said if Tawde had not changed MH-CET syllabus in January last year and scrapped negative marking system then students would not be in this trouble.

Malik was referring to the Supreme Court order in which it had ruled that only NEET would enable students to get admission to MBBS or BDS studies that has caused worry for state students as they were preparing for MH-CET.

“The old syllabus of MH-CET was at par with syllabus of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). MH-CET examination conducted in 2014 was based on the same syllabus. However, after taking charge as education minister, Tawde by issuing a government resolution (GR) on March 9, 2015, decided that new syllabus of MH-CET will be based on SSC and HSC syllabus of the state.
