Devendrasingh Khemani, NCP executive president, said: “The agenda is to oust Jyoti Kalani from the post of NCP president and to stop the interference of Pappu Kalani in the party work.”

“Jyoti Kalani is just a puppet in the hands of Pappu Kalani. The party expelled Pappu Kalani in 1992. Still, he takes decisions for her. He has been arrested in various criminal cases and was behind bars for nine years. He had promised me a post in the municipal corporation. So, I didn’t contest the election. But, at the last minute, he favoured Manoj Lassi, his son Omi’s friend.”

Pappu Kalani said: “The charges levelled against my wife and me are false and fabricated. Earlier, too, five corporators and some party workers had joined hands with other parties for personal benefits. Khemani is doing the same.”
