No leads in Juhu attack case, cops question 10-12 people

Juhu police sources said they are questioning 10 to 12 people in connection with the case and will catch the culprit soon.

Crime branch officers, who are conducting a parallel probe, said they are looking into all possible angles, which include a property dispute concerning the bungalow that is being heard in the civil court.

Sources from the crime branch, however, said that preliminary investigations show this may be a case of dacoity.

Incidentally, Harishchandra Mishra, who has taken the bungalow on lease, is the brother of Romesh Sharma, a politician.

A crime branch source said Sharma allegedly had links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in the past.

The source added that Sharma had allegedly hired a businessman’s chopper for campaigning at Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh during the Lok Sabha elections in 1996.

After the campaigning, he did not return the chopper and hid it in his farmhouse.

The sources said Mishra too was linked to the helicopter case.

Meanwhile, the Juhu police are questioning former employees of the bungalow, stall owners in the area and security guards stationed in the vicinity of the bungalow where the attack took place.

The property is located near the Iskon temple and is adjacent to the bungalow of a Bollywood actress. Many other film personalities also live in the area.

The Juhu police have registered a case under sections 342 and 397 (wrongful confinement and dacoity) against six unidentified assailants.
