The Santacruz police have questioned more than 12 record criminals in connection with the theft at the residence of the Consul General of Greece, Jeroo Vakil Mango, 74, on Sunday.

“We are checking with the gangs and record criminals to see if anybody was involved in the case or if they have any information about the incident. But so far we have not go any leads in the case,” said Madhukar Chaudhari, senior inspector, Santacruz police station.
The police suspect that the three accused had been keeping a close watch at Jeroo’s Baharestan Bungalow in Juhu over the past few days.
The first thing they did after breaking into the house by smashing open the kitchen windows was to lock the two rooms where the servants were. They then proceeded to the bedroom in which the cupboard containing the valuables was kept.
The three men had entered the house around 3am and stole cash and semi-precious jewellery worth around Rs 2 lakh. The men then entered Jeroo’s room on the first floor and threatened her with a knife. Jeroo screamed for help, which alerted her son and scared off the thieves. Jeroo had sustained minor injuries.
