From Sunday, the RRB has been conducting a parallel investigation into the matter and has concluded that the paper wasn’t leaked.

BK Dadabhoy, the chairman of RRB in Mumbai, said the examination paper hadn’t leaked on Sunday. “Nearly 80% of the questions mentioned in the paper carried by the candidate (caught cheating) were different. He would have failed in the examination if he had submitted it,” Dadabhoy said.

This also clears the air on the scare of a re-examination for the selected 1,000-odd students who had turned up at their examination hall in Valia Chhaganlal College of Commerce in Andheri. Dadabhoy said there was no question of a re-examination.

Any further action against the accused, Rajkumar Patil, the candidate, would be decided once the investigation of the police had been completed. The issue came to the notice of the supervisor when candidates from Patil’s classroom shouted at the supervisor for giving the accused an extra 10 minutes to finish his paper. He had earlier been allowed to enter the examination hall 30 minutes late.

This examination was meant for the posts of more than 1,000 assistant station masters across Central Railway. Similar incident of papers getting leaked had occurred last year during the RRB examination at Solapur and Nagpur and examinations had to be postponed.
